About Letters from A Better Me
Awesome. I'd love to talk more about your transformational coaching later. But first, can you tell us about your book? @mangopublishing @wolff_rachael @wolffspirit9 #selfcare #selfhelp #womensempowerment #writingcommunity #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
Letters from A Better Me: How Becoming an Empowered Woman Transforms the World is a guide of transformation. It's the path I took to get me out of my own way. I wanted to write a relatable book that every woman would understand.
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
I think you definitely accomplished that. I found it extremely relatable but also deeply empowering! #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
I wanted to show how true empowerment comes from within and it can't be forced.
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
“Why do you use letters?”
You use letter-writing as a transformational process. Why do you use letters? @bookpartychat @mangopublishing @wolff_rachael @wolffspirit9 #selfcare #selfhelp #toughtimes #womensleadership#bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat Letters are personal. I’ve been writing letters since childhood. As I got older letters became the way I used to re-write my own story. If I could break the most self-destructive patterns in my life, I want to share that. @Bookpartychat @Mangopublishing
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
“Are these your personal letters?”
Are these your personal letters? @wolff_rachael @bookpartchat @wolffspirit9 #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat Many are from my personal life, others are from things I’ve witnessed. These are the tools I used to change the self-destructive patterns in my life. @Bookpartychat @Mangopublishing
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
I loved that I had a mapped out way of thinking of my own development/transformation through these letters. They truly inspired me to think about what letters I might write to myself! #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
My hope was that people would see themselves and their own letters. I'm so happy to hear that you did!
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
“What do the three parts of the book represent?”
Your book has an interesting structure. Can you tell us about that? What do the three parts of the book represent? @wolff_rachael @bookpartchat @wolffspirit9 #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat Part I: Blinders Off—Awareness (the caterpillar) Part 2: Acceptance of What Is (The Chrysalis) Part 3: Taking Charge as an Empowered Woman—Positive action (The Butterfly) @Bookpartychat @Mangopublishing
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
Very powerful segments in a woman's life! #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
“Was it difficult to write Part I?”
Was it difficult to write Part I? @wolff_rachael @bookpartchat @wolffspirit9 #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat Part I was definitely the most emotionally challenging to write. I took on the pain of centuries of women, including all the unconscious patterns I brought with me from the generations of women in my family. Centering was a must. @Bookpartychat @Mangopublishing
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
Yes! I felt you were inviting me to really dig into old patterns of victimization and stuckness and all kind of…mud. It was helpful to look all that in the face! #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
I know for me, I couldn't heal what I didn't know was there. That piece was essential! I read self-help books for years and couldn't get it because I couldn't just skip over that piece and expect to find peace. #Bookpartychat
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
I know what you mean. There are so many tools that are just about pivoting self-doubt, etc. But it doesn't work to just slap on an affirmation, you know? Not when deep healing needs to take place. #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat No, personally the fake it until you make it approach has never worked for me. It goes so much deeper. We have to be willing to go deep into the what is resisting us from believing the message before we can heal it. At least, that is how it worked for me.
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
That healing IS very deep, and rather onion like in my life. I just started therapy with someone to revisit many of these demons. The same ones I've been dancing with for years! #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
“Did the book help you deal with our current moment?”
Part II is interesting right now, no? #Acceptance. There is so much that is out of our control right now. Did the book help you deal with our current moment? #bookpartychat @wolff_rachael @bookpartchat @wolffspirit9
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat YES! I've had to go back and remember some tools that I haven't had to use in years to help me stay present and centered. I have been writing alternative perspectives to fearful thoughts when they start taking the wheel. It's helped a lot @Bookpartychat
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
I was grateful to read your book during this challenging time. I was really struck by the last part, where you are encouraging women to change the world. Do you think women would have made such a mess of things? #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat sick people make a mess of things. Healthy people heal things. If a person can look at themselves honestly so that they don't take their toxic patterns out on other people, we can transform the world. And it begins with our own internal world then expands out.
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
I love that! I love what you're saying about honesty. The honesty is what frees us from these toxic patterns. We all have them, to some extent. No? #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat We all have unhealthy patterns whether we are conscious of them or not. If we didn't we would be in internal peace all the time. I believe some people are closer to that than others, but I think the majority of us have some unhealed baggage that could use a look.

Can you tell us about your writing process? How long did it take you to write the book? @wolff_rachael @bookpartchat @wolffspirit9 #amwriting #writingcommunity #bookstagram #books #newbooks #author #booklove #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat I wrote this book in about 4 months. I actually had no intention of writing a women's empowerment book. I fought it at first. I was seeing so much fear and anger, I wasn't sure how to help. I was on a yoga retreat in Sedona, AZ when I saw the book in my mind.
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat Once I started writing, I couldn't stop. I played a lot of different music to make sure I stayed in the space and energy whatever I needed me to be.
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
What an incredible journey! Was it joyous? Or painful? Or both? #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat Both, Part I, there were times I really had to work to get out of that energy space. Part II and III were complete joy. I did a gratitude meditation during the writing process and I had waterfalls coming out of my eyes from the purest joy I've ever felt.
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
Sounds like the book healed you too! #bookpartychat

“Did you go right to a publisher, or did you use an agent?”
What about your publishing process? Did you go right to a publisher, or did you use an agent? @wolff_rachael @bookpartchat @wolffspirit9 #amwriting #writingcommunity #publishing #publishedauthor @MangoPublishing #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat I used an agent. It was a long process because I don't have a large social media platform. The book got into a lot of different meetings, but it couldn't get passed the numbers people. I found my home at @MangoPublishing and really am so happy with the journey.
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat They saw the vision of the book. I KNEW I was in the right place.
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
So critically important, that they have the same vision! Yay. #bookpartychat

#Bookpartychat @MangoPublishing is the fastest growing independent publisher for the second year in a row according to @PublishersWkly. They have a truly amazing team of people. I love getting to talk to all the different departments directly and have everyone involved.
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
I love to ask this question because so many writers are looking for a great publisher, especially a strong, supportive independent publisher. So great to know you had a good experience. Yay!!! #bookpartychat

How long did your publishing process take? #bookpartychat @WolffSpirit9 @wolff_rachael
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat I believe it was right around a year. We had a few date changes, but it was a lot faster than I expected it to be.

Nearing the end of our time together, what do you believe your book has to offer in the midst of the pandemic we are in? @wolff_rachael @bookpartchat @wolffspirit9
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020
#Bookpartychat Perspectives and tools to get us through this one step at a time. This is a book that will let readers know they are not alone and shows them a path to feel connected with their lives, no matter WHAT situation they are currently in. @Bookpartychat @Mangopublishing
— Rachael Wolff (@wolff_rachael) April 29, 2020
I think that's all so true. As a reader, I would add that your book gives women encouragement to be change-makers in the world. I think we need more feminine energy to help heal from all of of this! #bookpartychat
— Laura Zam (@laurazam) April 29, 2020

A related question: If readers could only take one concept from the book, what would it be? @bookpartchat @wolff_rachael @wolffspirit9 #bookpartychat

#Bookpartychat The power of perspective – Perspective is our freedoms or our prisons. All our actions /reactions are guided by our perspectives. If we understand the power of perspective, we have the ability to take our power back. @Bookpartychat @Mangopublishing
