Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace #97

I’m grateful I have an open mind. It’s funny, this one isn’t always prominent with me until I have had an exchange with someone who has a closed mind. I know that what I believe, my perspectives of truth, are what work and don’t work in my life. If I see a perspective that doesn’t work, I’m open to investigate it. When I say a perspective that doesn’t work, I mean a perspective that keeps me in the energy of fear, lack, and separation. When I have one of these, I love going out there and investigating other ways of thinking. I also love investigating ways to expand my perspectives that do work.

Another thing I love is investigating where other people’s perspectives of truth come from. I don’t do this from my belief systems that don’t understand, I try to find sources of information that the other person follows. I find being open to listen and learn is such a beautiful asset. I don’t like to pretend like I know where someone else is coming from when I haven’t even tried to look at life from their angle. Doing this has really helped me limit the amount of hate that has coursed through my veins. I don’t have to agree, but I love when I can find connection to people who look at things differently than I do. I’ve done this to understand different cultures, religions, politics, and lifestyles. What I find is when I ask people questions in a non-threatening manner, they give me an opportunity to connect with them. We can’t ask people questions in a way that is setting them up to be judged, they feel that. Getting to know people through curiosity and the search of connection instead of separation, opens my heart up in all the best ways.

One of the things I’ve learned is that I don’t have to believe what someone else believes to find connection with them. We all have felt love, joy, passion, fear, sadness, grief, AWE, anger, and so much more. Each of us are born into beliefs and circumstances we had no control of. When I stopped focusing on how I’m different, I found my path to understanding how our perspectives of truth work for and against us. I couldn’t have done that without having an open mind. I had to be willing to look at things through different people’s perspectives too. That’s how I discovered that it’s the energy behind our perspectives that keeps us prisoner or sets us free. It all works together.

Today, I commit to listening to others with an open mind. Now more than ever, we need to look for ways we can connect with people instead of ways that we can judge each other as all right and/or all wrong. It doesn’t feel good when our perspectives are dismissed. When we listen with an open mind, we ask more questions. We connect to the humans in each other instead of the groups and titles we create for people. It’s fascinating to learn about people. I know I don’t like to be lumped into categories, so I try my best to not do that to others.

One of the things I’ve learned to say to myself is, just because something is not right for me, doesn’t mean it’s not right for someone else. I like to know if a perspective helps a person tap into the energy of love, abundance, and peace or fear, lack, and separation. I can tell pretty quickly if I’m talking to a person with a closed mind, so I just stick to asking them questions, and letting them judge what I do however they want, because it really is none of my business what they think of me. If I know something works in my life to connect me to the energy of love, abundance, and peace, I’m sticking with it! The best part about having an open mind is that when we are connected to the energy of love, abundance, and peace, more and more comes in. That is what abundance is! Our well of opportunities to grow and learn overflows. I love all the people who have come into my life introducing me to new techniques to go deeper into this amazing energy.

I know it can be challenging to let go of beliefs that have made us feel protected and safe in the past but also keep us aligned with the energy of fear, lack, and separation. We can be scared to even let the thought of new ideas enter our minds, but if we don’t stay open we don’t hear God’s guidance for us. It’s delivered through others. Pay attention. Here’s a practice I love doing:

I write down a question for God about something I’m struggling with. Then I ask if the Divine will make the message very clear, because I want to be able to hear it. I ask if it can be delivered through a messenger. Then I say thank you as if it were already done. Now, sometimes I’ve heard the answer through a song on the radio, a person I interact with, reading something, or watching something. When I ask for a clear sign, I somehow know when I got the answer. Then I once again say thank you multiple times with the full feeling of gratitude running through me.

Keeping an open mind is a gift we offer to ourselves and our fellow humans. Getting so fixated on only seeing things from our own perspectives, holds us back and keeps us in the energy of fear, lack, and separation. If you truly want to live in the energy of love, abundance, and peace, it takes a truly open mind and heart. Otherwise, we will keep getting in our own way.
