Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace #117

I’m grateful for the kindness of strangers. When I’m aligned with the energy of love, abundance, and peace, I see the kindness of strangers everywhere. I see smiling eyes in grocery stores. I laugh with people at the drive through. I watch how strangers assist each other in everyday life. I can choose to pay attention and be aware of this beauty, or I can get so consumed in the thoughts of past or present that I miss what is happening in the moment. It’s always my choice. If I’m in a negative mindset and/or not present, I’m not a kind stranger. I can’t be because I’m not there. We have to be present to be kind, which makes me appreciate the kindness of strangers even more. I know they are present when they are giving someone their attention. That’s pretty special in my book.

Today, I commit to focusing my attention on the kindness of strangers. Wherever we put our focus, we will see more of. If we are looking for kindness in the world, we will see all kinds of acts of kindness. We don’t even have to leave our house to see it. All we have to do is search acts of kindness on the internet. I guarantee your heart will be filled just watching and reading the stories. If we want to stop contributing to the fear, lack, and separation, we have to put our energy where our love, abundance, and peace GROW. Paying attention to the kindness of strangers reminds me of how many people do care, do show up, and do want to create a positive change in the world. Stay present, stay KIND!

Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace #115

I’m grateful I feel connected to others near and far. Yesterday, I spoke about Earth’s energy. Today, I’m expanding on that to include the energy of other people. I really wondered how this pandemic would affect our ability to connect to people. For me, I’m connected with others better than ever. I’m attracting like energy which has been so amazing! The more I align with love, abundance, and peace, the more individuals I connect with from that place. It doesn’t even matter where they are in the world. HOW AMAZING is that?? When our energy is aligned we open doors to some of the greatest discoveries. Staying aligned takes daily work, and this investment of my time has been well worth it. I love all the people I’m getting to connect with, near and far. I’m so grateful for the additional tool of video chatting and conferencing, because it really does help to open some wonderful doors.

Today, I commit to focusing on my connection with others. I plan on paying close attention to who’s energy is attracted to mine today. I love when I put my focus here, because I’m always amazed at what I see. I know that where I put my energy is what I will get back, so connecting with people helps me to see where I am. If I’m picking up on connections that illuminate the energy of love, abundance, and peace, that’s because that’s where my energy is. If I’m picking up connections of fear, lack, and separation, that’s because that’s where my energy is. We can’t hide from this. The truth is in what we see, and we can only change it or make it better if we acknowledge where our own energy is. The people who are drawn to our lives are the reflections of where we ACTUALLY are.

If we have chaos, fear, lack, separation, rage, and hate, we can’t be surprised when others are attracted to that. As my psychology professor taught me, healthy minds attract healthy minds. If we are with someone who treats us badly, we need to stop looking at them and start looking at how we are treating ourselves. We can only leave chaos if we stop internally living in chaos. Think of 12-step programs, like attracts like. Think about churches and spiritual communities, like attracts like. When there is an energy that doesn’t belong, many people will feel uncomfortable around that energy. This is why it is so important if we want to stay aligned with love, abundance, and peace, to pay CLOSE attention to the people we are surrounding ourselves with. If we are aligning with people who are buying into the never-ending borage of conspiracy theories, we ourselves need to look at the stories we are telling ourselves. Are we going on fears or facts?

I cherish the connections I have today. Many people have faded from my life and many others have come in, I trust what I attract and I’m grateful to learn, grow, and expand in the most beautiful ways. If you are on this journey with me, thank you for being here. I love knowing the messages I write resonate with others. Your time matters to me. I appreciate you.

I’m grateful for the energy of the Earth. Whenever I’m struggling to get out of my own head, or I feel consumed with the chaos of the outside world, I go outside and either plant my feet on the ground or sit on the Earth and put my hands on it. It’s a reminder to re-align myself energetically. I love when I can get quiet enough to feel the pulse. I slow down and take a deep breath just thinking about the peace I feel as the energy of the Earth flows into my hands and feet. I feel one with the Earth. It’s an authentic way to connect to the energy of love, abundance, and peace.

Today, I commit to connect with the energy of the Earth. During the holiday season and a global pandemic, connecting with the energy of the Earth can be a true gift. Just a few minutes focusing on the vibrations that run through through my hands and up my legs naturally grounds me. It takes focus, silence, and being fully present. I love to think of all the life that comes from the Earth as I touch it. Just the thought feels huge to me. I discovered that where I put my energy matters, and where I go for energy matters too.

I’m grateful for moments. I love when I catch myself enjoying or fully embracing a moment. Even if the moment is painful, that pain reminds me of my ability to truly FEEL and embrace my pain with the love I have within. Being in that moment makes me realize how far I’ve come. Being able to feel my pain fully in a moment also allows me to feel the extreme joy of a moment too. The more I connect each moment to the energy of love, abundance, and peace the more AWE I feel. We are in a time when we can easily get caught up in things we don’t have control of, so moments matter. Being able to hold onto something we see, touch, taste, smell, and hear can bring us to a place of peace. Only we have the the power to take hold of our moments. It’s no one else’s fault if we miss them. We are responsible and accountable for what we do with with them. We can choose to appreciate them, ignore them, or take them for granted. I’m grateful for when I choose to consciously live them.

Today, I commit to focusing on the moments. The great thing about this exercise is that I don’t have to do anything more than I’m already doing. I just have to pay attention. When I go outside, I look around. When I’m eating, I enjoy my food. When I’m stretching, I feel how good it feels. If I get sad, I be present with my sadness. If I cry, I remind myself that they are cleansing my soul. No matter what I do, I can choose to enjoy and/or embrace the moment. When I do this, my life feels so much richer. I tap into what true abundance is, which is being grateful for it all.

I’m grateful for the little signs. The Universe is amazing! I had one of those days when the Divine sent me a message in a completely unsuspecting way. I have been seeking clarity on something involving my career path. One conversation with a stranger gave me the AHA-moment I needed to get a clear vision on something I had been thinking about for awhile. I LOVE when that happens. A bunch of different questions and signs led me to the conversation. I knew something was going to come out of the conversation because I was getting the chills all through it. Then it happened! I left the conversation with a new found clarity. This has been happening so much lately, whether I’m on a zoom call, reading a book, or in a discussion with someone. Little signs keep showing up leading me down this path. I have no idea where it’s going, I’m just enjoying the journey and paying attention to each sign along the way.

When we are aligned with love, abundance, and peace our signals are open to receive so many wonderful gifts and signs. I’m sent people who are aligned with the energy I’m projecting out and it leaves space for the magic in the connections. I’m always amazed in the Divine energy that flows through—it’s palpable.

Today, I commit to watch for the signs from the Universe. Here’s what I know, when I’m open and willing to listen—the signs are there! The signs give me momentum to take the next step on my unknown journey. When I’m listening, no matter what happens, I feel safe in the knowing that everything is as it should be. The more aligned I am with love, abundance, and peace the more I can embrace what is in front of me. It all works together.

A little reminder for anyone taking this journey with me. I want to make sure it’s understood that aligning with love, abundance, and peace doesn’t stop the challenges from coming into our lives. I can have hours where I feel run down from my single mom duties and navigating two teens through challenging times, but doing the work to align brings me out of the chaos and brings me to a place of calm where I can ask God for guidance and be open enough to see the signs guiding me to the solutions. It’s helped me to figure out that I don’t have to have all the answers, if I get a nudge to reach out, I’m always amazed at the help that comes back.

When we are trapped in our stories of fear, lack, and separation we can often feel alone and feel like we have to come up with all the answers ourselves and can get to a place where we feel like the world is against us. That is a dangerous and lonely place and it only exists when we are feeding the fear, lack, and separation inside of us. We can’t see signs for solutions there because we are stuck in the problem. Doing the work to stay aligned is WORTH IT!

I’m grateful for hope. Hope is the candle I choose to light. Even in my darkest hours, hope was the flicker that kept me going. She is the whisper that tells me to keep moving when I have no idea what is around the next bend. I know many people are feeling depleted and stretched to the max. Some don’t even know what the next hour will hold. Hope is what happens when we align our energy with love, abundance, and peace even for a few seconds, even for the time it takes to take a deep breath in and exhale it out. I’m grateful I do see and feel the hope, because it is how I know that everything I’m doing in this moment is worth it, and that brings me peace.

Today, I commit to focusing on hope. One of my favorite ways to do this is to light a candle. There is something about watching the flame dance that soothes my soul. When I’m struggling, I like to imagine that light inside of me working it’s way through the dark places and shining light on what needs to be seen. What old patterns of thought am I holding onto? Knowing I have a light to shine brings me hope that I will make it out of any internal darkness. No darkness from the outside world can hold me down if I keep my light of hope ignited inside me.

I’m grateful for a new morning. I woke up this morning. That is something to be very grateful for. I’m grateful for my family and friends who got this same blessing. I’m grateful for the strangers from across the world who get to wake-up and open their eyes. In my gratitude, I also pray for those families who are grieving the loss of someone who didn’t get to wake-up this morning and the ones who are counting the mornings they have left. If you are here reading this right now, you got to experience a new morning. New mornings mean I get to make new choices. New choices mean the opportunity to have a beautiful day.

Today, I commit to appreciating the day. Today matters. This moment we are in right now matters. The thoughts we choose to let dance around in our minds matters. I’m going to be conscious of my choices today. This day is a gift that not everybody gets. Today, I want to honor that by living my day fully—minute to minute. I will enjoy the presence of water touching my skin while I wash my hands, shower, and do dishes. I will enjoy taking deep breaths in the open air. I will listen to the sounds that fill the air. Each thing I get to experience today is a blessing. Each moment I have loving someone and being loved is a blessing. Today, I’m not going to worry about what tomorrow holds. I have NO control over much of the chaos happening in the world. What I can do is only available to me in the moment I’m in. Today, I’m here. What can I do in this moment to make the most out of it?

Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace #109

I’m grateful I’m aware of how the energy of fear, lack, and separation can keep us prisoner if it goes unchecked. When we feel like a prisoner in the outside world, it’s because we are a prisoner of our own inner world. Whatever is going on inside us, reflects back to us in the world outside of us. We will see through lenses of fear, lack, and separation or love, abundance and peace depending on which energy we are feeding IN THE MOMENT! When people ask me about what I see right now, I see how the energy of fear, lack, and separation has manifested itself in the world. I see how people who are being driven by the energy of love, abundance, and peace are rising up. I also see how some people are unwilling to look at the energy of fear, lack, and separation within themselves and mistake the energy of fear for love, lack for abundance, and separation for peace.

Each human carries energies that free us and help us feel lifted and ones that keep us prisoner and keep us feeling depleted. Like I’ve discussed before, we each have light and shadow within us. This isn’t about good vs. evil. We each have a journey that will be filled with different events and circumstances that we will absorb and/or feed the energies of love, abundance, peace, fear, lack, and separation. We will get opportunities to learn from each. It only becomes a true hindrance when we are not willing to look inside and learn from the energy we are feeding, absorbing, growing, and spreading. I’ve learned to embrace my shadows within me because they always show up when I need to learn something VERY important. By acknowledging when I’m feeding the energy of fear, lack, and separation, I get the opportunity to question what is going on inside me.

However, when the energy of fear, lack, and separation goes unchecked, we manifest chaos. We manifest corruption. We manifest HATE. We actually start contributing to the energy that we say we are against when this happens…UGH! Then when we are consumed by the energy of fear, lack, and separation, we look around and it is all that we will see. It doesn’t have to be PROVEN either. Just a headline can get a person’s story spinning in their heads to feed the cycle of fear, lack, and separation. It doesn’t matter how much evidence is presented to counter fear attacks, a person lost in the energy of fear, lack, and separation will not be able to see clearly. For them, the truth is the story no matter how far fetched that it might get.

Whatever energy we feed, we create more of. Do I want to feel like a prisoner in my internal world? The answer for me is NO! So that means it’s necessary to keep checking myself, learning from what the energy of fear, lack, and separation has to teach me, and allow that lesson to feed into the energy of love, abundance, and peace in my life. That is what feels good to me. That is what feels right TO ME. That is my choice on how I want to live MY journey. I’ve seen what feeding the energy of fear, lack, and separation does to my life. It skewed my view of EVERYTHING I looked at. It skewed my judgments of others. It skewed my judgments of myself. It was an ugly and miserable way to live, and I choose not to live that way anymore. I will not be a prisoner to the energy of fear, lack, and separation. I will see it for what it is, my teacher. It doesn’t just teach me about myself, it teaches me so much about the world around me. I have to be able to see it in myself, so that I have a protection from it when someone tries to feed me their fear, lack, and separation. We have to recognize it in ourselves BEFORE we can see it around us.

Today, I commit to spot where I’m feeding the energy of fear, lack, and separation. In order to align with energy of love, abundance, and peace, we have to SEE anywhere we are feeding, growing, and spreading fear, lack, and separation. I talk about this a lot in both my book and my 90-Day A Better Me Series (here on my blog). We can’t fix what we aren’t willing to see. Unhealed pasts can lead to unconscious growing and spreading of fear, lack, and separation. Negative self-talk is the direct path to keeping up the spread of fear, lack, and separation. When we abuse ourselves, we project that energy out. So first and foremost, in order to see where we are leaking out fear, lack, and separation, we must truly define love. There are many definitions and interpretations of the verse I have below. I have used other versions in the past, and right now this one is resonating the most.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres.

The NIV Study Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:4-13:7, 1985, p.1752

Since this is what I believe is the definition of love, anytime I’m not operating from this place, I’m contributing to the energy of fear, lack, and separation. I’m not perfect, I have to work through the energies as they present through my interactions with my kids, partner, family, acquaintances, God, and strangers. Above all the outside interactions, I need to look at anytime I’m not supporting this definition of love within me. The more I feel the love within, the more I’m capable of feeling it around me. Knowing this definition and LIVING by it makes me very AWARE of the times I’m not here, this helps me to embrace the feelings of fear, lack, and separation and LOOK at them. I don’t beat myself up for them being there (which feeds them), I just try to learn from what they are there to teach me. I know if I hold onto them for too long without looking at them, they will manifest chaos in my life. There is a HUGE difference inside of me when I meet a challenge from a place of love, abundance, and peace vs. fear, lack, and separation. In times I’m learning from my darkness, I embrace myself with love. That is how I heal. That is how I get better. That is how I continue grow. Learning to face the energy of fear, lack, and separation inside me is a gift. I used to get stuck in the muck and feel like I was in quicksand. How do I keep my head above water? Why is all this happening to me? I swam in fear. That gets really tiring. That’s a prison. Our stories of love, abundance, and peace or fear, lack, and separation create the way we CHOOSE to see the world around us in each moment. This is why I dedicate myself daily to aligning with love, abundance, and peace.

You may see messages repeated on this blog over and over in different ways, as I wrote about on number 68, repetition is necessary and important. It’s something to watch if we are feeding messages negatively repeating in our minds too. If you like what you read here, I invite you to scroll down and follow the blog. Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace #108

I’m grateful I have healthy emotional support. Today, emotional support is needed more than ever. We are in a place where we can quickly spin our stories towards fear, lack, and separation or love, abundance, and peace based on the emotional support of the people around us. There are FEAR-BASED frenzies happening on every topic available for our picking. So many focused on fear of the unknown future instead of making choices that align us with the energy of love, abundance, and peace NOW. When we have healthy support systems, they question our stories that are based in fear, lack, and separation. I truly hope that all the people reading this have at least one person they can go to that won’t get on the hamster wheel with them.

This doesn’t mean we can vent an purge to get out the stuff that is inside us, holding it in isn’t healthy. This means once we get it out, we are willing to look at the stories we are telling ourselves that are causing us to stay in the energy of fear, lack, and separation. It means that we trust someone enough to confront our stories. Feelings aren’t facts, feelings move through us based on the stories we are telling ourselves. This is why we can’t MAKE someone else happy and they can’t MAKE us happy. The opposite is also true, we can’t make someone else unhappy. We are responsible and accountable for our own stories and they are what will make us happy, sad, radiant, rage-filled, jealous, trusting, and so on. When we have HEALTHY emotional support, our supporters don’t feed the stories that aren’t serving us.

I’m blessed to be surrounded by people who I can vent to, but also who allow me the space to transition out of my venting to help me figure out my stories. I learned a priceless tool from my friend Sarah years ago. She said, “Don’t go to the hardware store for bread.” It means know who to go to for what. Here’s some examples: I have certain friends who provide great laugh therapy. Then I have a couple people who I can talk in rich detail about our spiritual journeys. I have a boyfriend that will NEVER spin with me, but if I need to spin, he lets me spin and then we move into what I can do right now. I have other coaches and authors I speak to about relatable topics. Then, I have a friend who is also a survivor of narcissistic abuse that we can talk to each other about specific triggers. There are certain people who are educated in different areas. If we are trying to be the best version of ourselves, it’s good to know where the people we love and trust strengths are.

Think of story spinning like running on a hamster wheel, it won’t get you anywhere. Having healthy emotional support whether they are professional (i.e. therapists, coaches, pastors, etc.), friends, support groups, spiritual communities, and/or loved ones, are a key factor in where we will let our stories take us. Healthy support is not about numbing us to what is going on inside us, it’s about helping to open us up to what is going on inside of us. I also never forget to pray for messengers to help me through my challenges. They ALWAYS show up! Sometimes in very mysterious ways. I have to stay open to the support I need.

Today, I commit to seeking out healthy emotional support. Healthy emotional support aligns me with the energy of love, abundance, and peace. Unhealthy emotional support aligns me with the energy of fear, lack, and separation. It really is that simple. We have to make sure what energy we are aligning with. We must be clear on what exactly we are looking for. On day number 106 (click here for link), I wrote about living with purpose. If you want a healthy support system, you want to be clear on your purpose first. Otherwise, you won’t have a clue in how to go about getting the best support. I talked about my vision board that reflects the inner world I want. When we know that, we start seeking out people who have the strengths in the areas we are looking for. We put our intentions out to the Universe so that the right people show up to help us accomplish it. When we don’t know what we want our inner world to look like, it can be really hard to get what we need. When we aren’t clear, it becomes harder for us to see others clearly. We become easy prey for unhealthy people spreading fear, lack, and separation. We get internally lost in some very dangerous stories. When we are there we hard time even seeing what is healthy and what isn’t.

We can all get lost in our own dark stories, that’s why it’s good to have a touchstone, like the vision board to help us back to how we want to be living. Looking at my board when I’m struggling actually helps me determine who I want to talk to. I also can look at the board and see if I’ve aligned with a person who is not healthy for my journey. The visual aid helps to keep me on track for living my best life and getting the healthy support I need to do it.

I’m grateful for science, researchers, and the people dedicated to keeping up with it. I just finished a book called, Healing Depression without Medication: A Psychiatrist’s Guide to Balancing Mind, Body, and Soul (Link in title) by Jodie Skillicorn, DO. If you’ve been reading this blog, you know how dedicated to learning I am. Reading this book was such an amazing gift, because it explained the science behind things that I’ve thought and practiced for years. She even presented some practices I’ve never heard of, which of course I have flagged to try.

As I’ve said before, I was a suicidal teen. I was prescribed a drug combination at seventeen that completely numbed me to the point that when one of my cousins got in a car accident, went into a coma, and then died, I didn’t feel anything. I’m a person who gets moved by a sentimental moment in a commercial. Not feeling anything is about the ABSOLUTE worst thing I could imagine. Soon after, I switched from going to a psychiatrist to a social worker and got off the meds. I learned how to process my feelings and work through them there. Reading this book all these years later helped me get a whole new layer of understanding of my past experiences with my depression. The best part is I can see why what I’m doing to stay aligned with love, abundance, and peace is working to keep me in a healthy place, despite the occasional and short-lived dips.

When I finished the book yesterday, I became overwhelmed with gratitude for people like Dr. Skillicorn, who keep up with research and really invest the time to understand what they are reading, processing, and passing on. You can tell by her work, she keeps looking for new ways and methods to help people who are suffering. Thinking about her then turned into me thinking about all the many scientists, researchers, and people keeping up with the ever changing discoveries about the COVID pandemic. Yes, I’m overflowing with gratitude! This is not an easy task. I know the people on the frontlines and behind the scenes are all working tirelessly to get an understanding of this internal invader. Here’s the thing that people sometimes forget about science, with new knowledge comes new discoveries. I’m so grateful to those who keep searching for a greater understanding of how things work. Things will change and not everything happens in a straight line.

When I was in college, some of my professors and classmates would laugh at just how many research studies I would pull up for one 10-page paper, we won’t even talk about my final project LOL. One of my professors told me a couple years later she likes to use me as an example of be careful of how much you bite off. I can only imagine that people in the field can go down similar rabbit holes when they start diving in. I have so much respect for those who dedicate their lives to this.

I watch people get annoyed and impatient with the scientific process—especially now. If you are one of these people, please think about the fact that science is about trial and error. There is no perfect science. We have to do the best with the information we have at the time. This is passed on to every facet of our lives. We can only ever do our best with what information we have at the time. The cool thing about scientists, researchers, and the people who keep up with it are that the best will keep getting better. There has to be a willingness to see what is out there, or when it comes to becoming our best selves—in there.

Awareness is key to making shifts. We cannot change that which is buried or hidden.

Skillicorn, Jodie, DO. Healing Depression with Medication: A Psychiatrist’s Guide to Balancing Mind, Body, and Soul. North Atlantic Books, 2020, p. 98

Today, I commit to paying attention to NEW science and research. If you are struggling with depression or anxiety right now with everything going on, I highly suggest checking out Dr. Skillicorn’s book. If you enjoy the tools I offer, you would probably enjoy reading about the science behind why it works. She also offers tons of “Wellness RX” sections to apply the lessons. The layout is so user-friendly too. Another great thing to pay attention to is she takes the reader through her transition of opening up her own mind when she started seeing the disconnects and missing pieces in her education. The book is available on audiobook too. I actually got both the paperback and audiobook, because I knew I would want to have both for easy access.

Other new science I find fascinating is brain science. The discoveries in brain science are mind-blowing. There is also new science in DNA, cannabis, human behavior, energy, education, and so much more. I love seeing what is new out there. When I open my mind to what changes and develops through scientific research, it helps me to open my mind to make changes in my own life. I open myself up for discovery.

With Love, Abundance, and Peace,
