Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace #66

I’m grateful that there are always helpers. Number 65 was dedicated to one of my helpers. It was Sherry who asked me to be the facilitator of the Heart Wisdom Panel on October 7, 2020. The panel has a couple authors sharing wisdom and tools on how to thrive during these challenging times. Talk about helpers! I’ve been the guest a couple times, and I did an emergency fill-in another. She asked me because it’s finally her turn to be a special guest on the panel. As the facilitator, I’m given the books of the authors to glance through (I read them both—Front to back). I already knew Sherry was one of my helpers, but it really made it stand out for me. Now, I found a new helper.

When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’

Fred Rogers a.k.a. Mr. Rogers

Today, my focus is on the other book, Find the Helpers: What 9/11 and Parkland Taught Me about Recovery, Purpose, and Hope by Fred Guttenberg. On day #47, I quoted Fred Rogers famous quote. I had no idea I would be reading this book at this point. Once again, the power of aligning with Love, abundance, and peace creating the door. I talk about helpers, and now I’m presented with more. Reading Fred Guttenberg’s story was such an amazing tribute to all the helpers who showed up for him to help guide him on his mission to create social change after his 14-year old daughter Jaime was murdered in Parkland, FL during a mass shooting. Some may see this as a political book because of his advocacy and political helpers, but if you pick it up, I ask you to put your beliefs aside and LOOK DEEPER. This book is truly about the power of love and how it can ignite a person’s drive to do some amazing things and attract some POWERFUL helpers along the way. I got to see the humanity of each individual that he defined as one of his helpers. The book made me truly grateful for the helpers. Warning, it also made me cry my eyes out to the point my whole face was swollen, but I cherish those tears, because they are tapping into my humanity. I’m always grateful for that.

I find when we are aligned with our purpose, the helpers we need to show up. They might be there when we aren’t aligned, but we might not see them. That’s the tricky part. We have to be open to accept what our helpers are offering. If we are trapped in the energy of fear, lack, and separation, we won’t be open to see our helpers. If a helper is someone you’ve separated yourself from because of politics, religion, gender, country, race, etc…. you are acting against yourself. Be open, you may be very surprised where the helpers come from.

As I become more aligned with every passing day, more helpers show up and I get to help more too. Fred Guttenberg’s book is an amazing tribute to all the helpers who have shown up for him, and in-turn made it possible for him to be the helper to so many. If you are showing up for your life, staying aligned with your purpose, and staying open, you have a long list helpers to be grateful for too. If you are having trouble being aligned, start with being grateful for our everyday helpers. The more you focus your energy on seeing the helpers, the more you will see. Here’s a sample of what I’m talking about:

  • I’m grateful for my family
  • I’m grateful for the first responders
  • I’m grateful for the medical community
  • I’m grateful for the people who serve me
  • I’m grateful for authors
  • I’m grateful for kind and compassionate people
  • I’m grateful for love-minded influencers

Today, I commit to being a helper and appreciating the helpers who cross my path. Here is the loving action we take when we align ourselves with love, abundance, and peace. When we are not prisoners of our fear, lack, and separation we see opportunities to be better helpers and appreciate those who are helping. Just for today, try to put aside the beliefs that separate you from your fellow humans. Just for today, imagine you can do something to create more abundance in kindness, compassion, love, faith, wealth, empathy, connection, and quality time. Just for today, love yourself enough to shine that love onto the world and be a helper.

When we lump people into categories, we don’t see the human behind the fear, lack, and separation that we created. How are we helping when we do that? Fred Guttenberg’s story showed me there are all kinds of unexpected helpers, we have to look beyond the labels and see the humans. When two people recognize each other’s humanity, our differences don’t divide us. We see compromises, solutions, and simply areas where we can agree to disagree. We each bring our own perspectives of truth to the table, we can’t force anyone to change what they believe, but we can question if our perspectives are aligning us with the energy we want to live in. When we do that, we become some of the greatest helpers, because we lead with the heart.

Today’s piece is dedicated to Fred Guttenberg, the loving memory of Jaime Guttenberg, and all the people we’ve lost to acts of hate.
