Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace #14

It’s been two weeks since I started this journey and so many blessings have been coming my way. Committing to spend time daily in the energy of love, abundance, and peace has created space for some wonderful shifts. Amazing people, deeper meditations, money, closeness with my kids, and so much more. I’m feeling good about taking care of myself body, mind, and soul and my relationships are benefiting from it.

Committing to live in the energy of love, abundance, and peace does NOT mean I’m not going to feel grief, sadness, fear, anger, etc. When I have these feelings, I FEEL them fully, learn from them, and when I’ve done my work with them, I release them. Feelings show up for a reason, but when we live in the ENERGY of fear, lack, and separation, we don’t find the beautiful gifts, because our need to live in fear, lack, and separation tells us we have to STAY in it. When we stay longer than we need to by numbing, avoiding, and suppressing our darkness comes out on others. We are in a constant cycle of things that will keep feeding that fear, lack, and separation cycle. What has happened to us in the past doesn’t have to keep up prisoner. We have to choose where we want to put our energy and wherever we choose to put it, is what will feed into our lives. Martin Luther King Jr. said it beautifully when he said,

“As you press on for justice, be sure to move with dignity and discipline, using only the weapon of love. Let no man pull you so low as to hate him. Always avoid violence. If you succumb to the temptation of using violence in your struggle, unborn generations will be the recipients of a long and desolate night of bitterness, and your chief legacy to the future will be an endless reign of meaningless chaos.”

-Martin Luther King Jr. 1956

From A Loving Place was born from inspiring words from the amazing humans who took the responsibility of passing down a legacy of love seriously. We aren’t going to end any of the fear, lack, and separation in the world, if we are choosing to live their ourselves. I’m making the conscious choice of which energy I’m choosing to feed daily. I hope you will join me on this amazing adventure if you haven’t already.

Today, my focus is on my centering practices. One of the things I talk about in my book is centering ourselves in our daily activities. One of the challenges I face when introducing new practices to my life is time, so learning to create centering practices around what I’m already doing is such an AWESOME gift. Washing my hands and washing dishes turned into a gift instead of a chore. Laundry gives me space to move and breathe. De-cluttering acts as an emotional cleanser. Traffic is time to listen to audiobooks that keep me centered. We can choose to look at anything from a place of love, abundance, and peace or fear, lack, and separation. Today, I will spend my day in gratitude enjoying each activity that gives me an opportunity to center myself.

I feel like a kid in a candy store right now. I’m actually giddy thinking of all the ways I can center myself. When I say centering myself, I mean becoming one with a moment in time. When I focus on doing this throughout the day, my day ends up being such an adventure. I’m thinking of the process of making my smoothie, and all the amazing opportunities that offers using every one of my senses. I’m going to have fun with this one. I hope you do too!

Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace #13

Nature offers us so many tools to get to a peaceful place within ourselves. When we learn to start focusing on the abundance they provide us with, that’s when amazing connections begin to happen. I will be forever grateful to a banyan tree that taught me the importance of getting rid of dead weight so that my energy could be distributed to places that will make me stronger. Trees come with many answers if we stop, listen, and observe. Just sitting under trees as the wind moves their branches puts me at ease with the world around me. I’m reminded to breathe in the magnificent oxygen that they provide.

We make time for what’s important to us, so if peace is important, we must first start making time to be at peace. The world around us might be chaotic and frantic, but trees can offer us calm. If we don’t want to be in the chaos, we need tools to get our energy out of the chaos and into the energy where the best solutions lie—in our calm. Our best problem solving skills happen when we are in the energy of love, abundance, and peace, not fear, lack, and separation.

A practice I love to do is write down a challenge I’m facing, then sit under a tree and see what comes to me. I’m never opposed to climbing one either. It was when I was climbing a banyan, high in the branches that I became free from the chains that were holding me down. I asked for the wisdom and I got more than I ever could have imagined.

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely LOVE my adventures. They don’t have to be big. Sometimes it’s to the nature preserves down the street, sunsets on the beach, kayaking, playing games with my kids, making a new recipe, or pool time. Other times it’s walking my neighborhood with my camera taking pictures of the flowers and wildlife. Then there are my summer road trips where I drive up to the mountains and visit family and friends. Each adventure small or large brings me an abundance of things to be grateful for. Just writing this short paragraph brings gratitude into my heart with so many beautiful memories. We have the ability to make any outing or experience an adventure. Making our lives adventures can take something so simple and make it extraordinary. It’s all in how we interpret the the experiences we have.

Today, plan an adventure. It doesn’t have to be big or overwhelming. Just put your energy into being somewhere you want to be in your head. Even if that means you are in your own kitchen cooking a new meal, so that would entail the going on the adventure to find all the ingredients. If you want to go big, plan a dream vacation. I mean really see yourself taking the trip. Put the energy into the enjoyment of the research and figuring out the places and people. In this exercise, you are NOT thinking about the money or anything that blocks you from the energy of going. Whatever adventure you plan, make sure you can get fully into the energy without blocks. If you feel yourself having blocks, try something smaller to start.

I once had this idea that I wanted to take a 6-week road trip with my kids. I looked at the route I wanted to take, figured out what family and friends would be easy to see, and had a lot of fun researching a ton of different areas. Next thing I knew, the money started showing up. Once my energy was fully aligned with the adventure without creating mental blocks in my head, the way started revealing itself. That was a road trip I will never forget. I documented some of it here. One of the greatest gifts of aligning our energy with love, abundance, and peace are the amazing adventures that come with it.

There is a reason laughter is called one of the BEST medicines. When we appreciate the people, places, and things that make us laugh, we attract more things to laugh about. One of the saddest things I notice when working  with people is how they brush pass their laughter like it’s no big deal. Laughter is a HUGE deal and something to be very grateful for. Find places to laugh in your daily life. I don’t care if it’s people, videos, stand-up, or what. They even have Laughing Yoga. I absolutely LOVE stand-up comedy. For me, it’s not just about the comedian. It’s about the crowd laughing too. I’m so grateful when I find things in my life that make me laugh out loud.

If you are having to be isolated from your friends, you can video chat with them. I’ve had some of the best nights on chats with girlfriends just laughing so hard that not only were tears rolling down my eyes, but my face HURT the next day from smiling so much. If you are joining me on this daily aligning with love, abundance, and peace, think back to the times you have laughed in the last few days. I know even at some of the saddest times in my life, I found moments to laugh. Those moments were so important to me. They helped me feel like I was going to be okay.

IMG_0842

Make laughing a priority today! Why not, unless you don’t want to feel better, I guess that would be a good reason LOL. We live in a world FULL of resources. If we are bound and determined to laugh today, we will. I know I will. If you REALLY want to be in the energy of love, abundance, and peace—write it down!! It’s not enough just to think it and crack a grin. Fully embrace, value, and cherish what you are grateful for. We have to give gratitude our full energy or else that energy of lack will find it’s way back in. We have to give that moment of peace acknowledgment when we are laughing, so that we don’t re-align with feelings of separation. Laugh out loud right now until the laugh becomes real because you are laughing at yourself. Love yourself enough to treat yourself with laughter today. You deserve it and so do I!

Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace #10

Today, I’m focusing my gratitude on flowers in all their glory. For me, taking pictures of flowers reminds me to stop and pay attention. They provide us with such beautiful gifts. I love walking around my neighborhood and seeing all the variations. When the wind hits the right place, I smell the gardenia and the jasmine permeate the air. If you want to join me, take a few minutes to really stop, appreciate, and smell the flowers you love. What are your favorites? Do you have any around you? Go visit them if you can. If you don’t, find pictures and imagine smelling them. When the mind focuses, it can bring a smell from a memory right to you. Use the flowers to REALLY embrace the feeling of gratitude, because in this moment the flowers are enough to bring you into the energy of abundance.

When we slow down and pay attention to the flowers, we give ourselves the opportunity to be fully engaged in the moment. We don’t even need to see flowers in person to feel the AWE. We can look at pictures online and notice details of these AMAZING creations.

Right now, I’m thinking about gardenia. Instantly, the beautiful scent fills my head, and I not only smell it, but absorb the last memory of me smelling it. I’m back to the AWE…a moment of pure joy , peace, and gratitude all at once—true abundance. It’s the most beautiful feeling. When you recognize the things that bring you to a feeling of AWE, it’s easier to move out of a moment of fear, lack, and separation and back into love, abundance, and gratitude.

Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace #9

Animals have a way of aligning us with love, abundance, and peace VERY quickly. Let’s take this moorhen family in the picture below. Each day I watched this family, joy emanated through me. Joy comes from aligning with love, abundance, and peace. My energy felt completely aligned with the present moment as I watched this little family work together in such an extraordinary way. I also love how I can watch a cute animal video and my energy will immediately shift. That in itself is a reason I’m so grateful for animals. As an animal owner and lover, my animals tend to keep me entertained and my heart soft on a daily basis. I know I can come up with a lot more than three reasons I’m grateful for animals. Really get into the energy of this one. If you need to watch a cute animal video, go do it.

Check out more about the Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace Challenge by going to Day #1 here.

Being aware of the tools we have for self-care is essential on this journey of aligning with love, abundance, and peace. If we slip out of the energy we know we want to live in, we need to make sure we know how to get back. When I mentioned the animal videos, I was very serious. If those help to keep you in a loving mood, watch them. In the beginning of my practice, I had a challenging time spotting when I was going to fear over love. As I learned to pay attention to my body’s reaction to the energy of love and the energy of fear, I started to REALLY able to spot the difference. Being able to do that makes it much easier to get the love flowing through you again. A few things I do is watch Ted Talks, videos of people from different walks of life being good to each other, animal videos, write in my gratitude journal, talk to specific people, make posters for Facebook.com/FromALovingPlace…and of course write blogs, which is why I’m here in the first place. Being here keeps me connected, because I know my energy has to be aligned in order to write. So, what will you do today?

Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace #8

Sometimes we can be brutal to our bodies in our feelings, thoughts, words, and actions. Doing this aligns us with fear, lack, and separation. We tell our bodies that they aren’t enough and that we don’t appreciate them. Is that a way to treat our life partners? Our bodies are with us from the cradle to the grave. It’s time to start treating them like the love of our lives and show them some appreciation. When we align with our bodies in love, abundance, and peace, we stop going to war with them. We start feeling better and start wanting to do right by them. Then, they start doing right by us.

See, our bodies have a way of telling us that something is wrong, but when we are not attune to them, we miss the signals. The reason why is because when we are aligned with fear, when we really need our intuitive fear button, it’s broken from being over used. Today, I’m working on the relationship with my body. Join me if you know you haven’t been appreciating yours.

If you want to learn more about the Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace Challenge, go to Day #1 here.

If I really want to show another person how much I love them, I can come up with endless ways. The reason I can do this is because that person is important to me. That person is on my priority list. I feel that person is worthy of my affection, time, and love. Are you getting the point? Today, let’s commit to treating our bodies like they are the loves our our lives, because quite frankly the choice is they are our love or our enemy. Who do you want to live with for the rest of your life? If you are having a hard time figuring out ways to to treat your body like it is the love of your life, think of it like it is your ideal romantic partner outside of yourself. How do you think that person would feel loved? We can feed them, bathe them, take a walk with them, help them stretch, massage them, etc. Today, I’m going to be the absolute love of my body’s life and show it how much I appreciate what it does for me.

I love making time to appreciate skills I’ve learned. This one puts me in a great mood. Sometimes when we get stuck in the daily grind, we forget to see how far we’ve come with the skills we’ve learned along the way. Appreciate the time you’ve committed to learning skills that have helped you and in turn, others. If you missed the first day explaining this daily aligning project, you can find it here.

There will be times when we experience blocks where our energy fights us to stay in fear, lack, and separation. Many times these are old beliefs that we either are so unconscious of or we know we have them and we are scared to let them go. These blocks may been have presented themselves after a trauma as a way of protecting ourselves. Unfortunately, many of us are taught to numb, ignore, and avoid our feelings. The feelings that created the beliefs or enforced the beliefs are being projected from us whether we are aware of them or not. There is even new science that is saying that trauma can be passed down in our DNA! Old recognized feelings and unhealthy beliefs will come off in how we interpret situations, in our body language, in our immune systems, and they will EXPLODE in our intimate and close relationships. Anything we try to keep down, will re-surface in one way, shape, or form. It is SO IMPORTANT to learn techniques to properly feel through feelings that are creating blocks to aligning with the energy of love, abundance, and peace. What you may discover is you are holding on to beliefs that were passed down from previous generations that no longer serve you. Feelings in themselves aren’t bad, they are necessary for us to see where we are, avoiding them, numbing them, and suppressing them does a disservice. We actually will hurt more people including ourselves when we don’t face what is going on inside of us.

Today’s exercise isn’t a one time thing, it’s important to check in with yourself on a regular basis. It is interesting how our alignment with fear, lack, and separation manifests, I actually just found a buried block of my own recently. I live a very abundant life in many areas, but I seemed to have a financial block. I knew it was there, I knew it was something inside of me creating it, but I had NO clue what it was. It took a few days of praying, meditations, and actually paying attention where the Universe guided my attention for me to hear the message. I was led to a friend of mine who had been doing an abundance course. She listened to me, and started talking about feeling the “weight of debt” and how if we put our energy there, we create more of it. Have you ever heard of Oprah’s Aha-moment? Well this was definitely one of mine.

If you are thinking, how do I know if I have a block? If you feel pulled into fear on a daily basis, there is a block. If you feel like your needs aren’t being met (lack), there is a block. If you feel trapped in chaos or you can’t separate yourself from other’s chaos by taking their chaos personally, there is a block.

We can get very comfortable in the energy of fear, lack, and separation. The first step is becoming aware of when your energy goes there. Pay attention to where you feel this in your body. Try to remember the first time you felt the feeling. You can do things like pray, meditate, talk to trusted friends, read, seek professional help, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) a.k.a. Tapping, etc. What I’m ALWAYS amazed by is when I put my energy into releasing a block, the tools will start showing up. I’m reading two books that I was led to that have great tools for me, and I was also guided to Tapping.com to work through the emotional blocks with EFT, which is AMAZING by the way. Just stay open to where your guidance leads you and COMMIT to the journey. When you set the intention to heal something inside of you without blaming someone else for the problem, YOU will be amazed how much faster you get re-aligned with love, abundance, and peace. My book (down below) helps guide women through some of the most common blocks. I also have the FREE 90-Day A Better Me Series right here on this blog for any gender. If either is what is meant to help you, you will have a feeling about it. The wonderful thing about this journey is when we become more aligned, the messages become clearer and clearer on what to do to help ourselves align even more (I hope you can sense my excitement here).

Daily Aligning with Love, Abundance, and Peace #6

One of the biggest excuses to not align with the energy of love, abundance, and peace is our challenging times and past traumas. When we say we can’t do this because… that is a CHOICE not to do it. We are telling ourselves we are comfortable in our pain states and we don’t want to change. As a survivor of multiple traumas, I used to make this choice and it landed me in the psychiatric ward after trying to attempt suicide at age seventeen. It would be a long time and a lot more trauma before I realized that I was projecting the energy of fear, lack, and separation into the world by holding on the way I was. I believed (a perspective of truth) that I was protecting myself, when really I was not only causing myself harm but bringing that energy into ALL my relationships (EEEK).

Whatever we tell ourselves is true, is true to us. This is why it is SO important to be conscious of where we are putting our energy in each moment. We have the power to re-wire/ re-train our brains to go to different thoughts when we face challenges, what better time to practice this than right now. Byron Katies work taught me to REALLY question my thoughts. If a thought creates dis-ease in my body, I pay attention and ask myself, “Where would I be without the thought (name the thought)?” This practice truly helps me to see that my thoughts can be changed, if I CHOOSE to change them. One of the steps I use to keep my brain wired for love, abundance, and peace during challenging times is to find lessons to be grateful for.

This might not be easy in the beginning if your brain is used to staying in the chaos, which mine was. Now, it is one of the first places my mind goes after I fully feel my way through whatever is happening around me (come back tomorrow for more on that). For today, think about some lessons you got from challenging times that have helped you in SOME way, whether that be in relationships, work, school, parenting, dealing with negative people, etc. If you want to learn more about why I’m doing these posts, go back to day 1 here.

Now, breathe. Our conscious breath taking is a crucial piece of aligning our energy. When we slow down and breathe through our stressful thoughts, it not only lessens their impact on our bodies, but in the functioning of our brains. Sometimes just taking three conscious breaths in and out is all we need to gain a little space from the stressful thought. This gives a place to question the thought and re-access it. If you have a stressful thought today, pay attention to what happens to your breathing. Stress creates us to hold our breath. Make sure you are taking a long and deep breath in and FULLY releasing it. If you can get into the habit of doing this, you will be able to re-align with the energy of love, abundance, and peace much faster.

Oh yes, today we are focusing our gratitude on HERE and NOW. Right now, look around and find three things you are grateful for. To find out more about the daily aligning practice, go to #1 here.

The path to peace is an inside job. If we aren’t at peace inside, we will tend to spread chaos around us (most times unconsciously). One of the important steps to inner peace is showing ourselves respect. This also helps us have healthy boundaries with others. Part of showing ourselves respect is taking care of ourselves. Over indulging in things that do damage to our minds, bodies, emotions, and/or souls is us NOT respecting ourselves.
