Day 65: Implementing Soul Purpose to Our Prayers

“Prayers are requests we make of our Higher Power to align us with a different force field, a new center of gravity and power source. This allows us to release our subconscious mind’s allegiance to our ego and the messages of the outer world that are programming it so that it can be infused with Divine inner guidance for our lives.”

-Robert Ohotto, Transforming Fate into Destiny

I read the book Transforming Fate into Destiny by Robert Ohotto as a part of a book club in 2009 or 2010. I remember not feeling very connected to the book. Then I got to the section on prayer, and I knew exactly why I was meant to read the book. The section on prayer changed the way I prayed and it opened me up to a WORLD of transformation. It doesn’t matter what religion a person follows, the section on prayer is an eye-opening experience as he gives examples of what Ohotto calls, “ego prayers” and “soul prayers”. Before reading this book, I didn’t realize how much ego I put into my prayers. I would say I had faith, but then in my prayers I would sometimes act like I knew what was best for others and myself. It was like saying, “I trust you, BUT here’s what I see as the best solution.” We either trust the Divine Energy that we believe in or we don’t, the second we think that we know what is best through our straw-hole view (exercise from earlier in the 90-Day A Better Me Series) of the Universe, our actions say we don’t trust in the Divine’s plan for the people we are praying for, the animals we are praying for, and the world we are praying for.

My perspective of truth tells me I have a soul purpose here. I’m guided along a path that leads me to develop in ways to implement my soul’s purpose. I can’t pretend to know where the path is going to take me from day to day. When I try to plan it, God laughs. I can be very entertaining when I try to pretend I have control over the Universe. I can’t tell you how many times I just knew what was going to happen and when…Are you guessing that it didn’t happen? You’re right. Every time I pretend that I know, I’m given a lesson that tells me, NOPE you don’t. Let’s just say, changing the way I pray has helped me to put my faith where it belonged without getting attached to the way I think something SHOULD  go.

Implementing soul purpose in our prayers helps us to get out of the ego while still sending faith-filled, joyful, compassionate, empathetic, loving, and/or appreciative energy out into the world. Our soul purpose is to shine our light (love) as bright as we can. This looks different for every individual because of the tights of color that each individual brings to the light. We each are guided down paths to brighten our own lights, just because they don’t look like someone else’s light, doesn’t mean our light is less or more than theirs. So are prayers are important to the Universal energy.

I believe in the power of prayer, it doesn’t mean we are going to get the results we as individuals want, but the healing energy brought out by the empathy, love, and compassion of others shifts the energy of the planet in ways no human will ever be able to fully comprehend. The results create ripples of miracle after miracle. When we look at it from a loving place, it’s pure MAGIC!

Here are some ideas for prayers that can help strengthen our own personal energy, our energy that connects us to Spirit, and the energy that adds our unique light to the world. When I think about the energy of prayer implementing each of our soul purposes, I see it as the most beautiful image of differentiating colorful lights that bring out the feeling of AWE.

Reminder: Light = Spirit, love, joy, acceptance, unity, compassion, empathy, health, wellness, appreciation, acceptance, peace, etc. Dark (Lack of Light) = Fear, hate, shame, envy, judgment, blame, corruption, revenge, separateness, manipulation, gaslighting, etc.

Please add the name you call the Higher Power/ Creator to the beginning of each prayer you use. Make sure you are connecting to your Creator through LOVE. If certain titles bring fear, find one that represents the Loving energy of the Creator. You want to make sure you are connecting to the energy that brings out your light, and you can’t do that through the energy of fear.

Personal Light Energy

  • Source of ALL light, please help me to see my own dark corners so that I can shine light on them. Give me the courage and strength to look within and face my own dark thinking. Show me the path that will connect me to my brightest light, my soul’s purpose.
  • Please help me to see the light that I have within me. Help guide me through ways to encourage the feeling of love within myself.
  • Please help me find the path that will allow me to shine my brightest. I trust that wherever I go, you are leading the way. I trust that whatever darkness I face is an important piece to help me see my own light.
  • Please shine through me. I know I’m where I am where I am right now for a reason. Help me see the lesson I’m here to learn in order to strengthen my light. Allow me the strength to push the mental, physical, and emotional pain of my situation to find the love within me.

Light Energy Connecting Us to Spirit

  • Please give me the path to your light in dark times. Could you please light the way of the step in front of me to show me signs of how to connect with your light?
  • I’m feeling disconnected, please show me a way to feel your light right now.
  • Please allow your love to permeate through me in order to shine the light on all of who you created me to be. Please help me to connect to your healing light.
  • Please help me to connect to your love, so that I can recognize the love within me.

Adding Light to the World in Our Prayers for Others

  • Please shine light on my friend, _________________. Allow your light to work through her in his/her time of darkness.
  • Please send love to the people who are grieving the loss of your creations. Allow them to feel the light of the ones they’ve lost and the light of your love in these hard times.
  • Please help me to shine your light of love into this situation where there is a lot of darkness. Help me find the words to bring light into other’s dark. Please help me to stay strong in order to not contribute to the dark or get consumed by it. Please protect me in your light while I face the darkness around me.
  • Please allow me to see the purpose of the darkness I’m seeing in the world. Please help me to add light to any area that needs it.

These are just suggestions to help you to open the door. The best thing we can do in any situation is to send love and shine light. That is the only way to illuminate the dark. Spirit is ALL light. When we can connect to that Source light, we strengthen ours, and help to light up the world around us.

In the Chaos of Change

“We should be grateful for all situations that make us the most uncomfortable, because without them we would not know there is something unhealed in us.”

-Ken Wapnick

We all have our own truths. They come from further back then our own lives take us. Many of them are created before we’re even born. They are based on what our families passed down from generation to generation. Was there a lot of love, fear, joy, sadness, athletes, artists, addictions, scholars, prejudices, etc.? As we grow and experience world, our beliefs can shift and change, sometimes with quite a bit of chaos as we fight our history with the person we want to become. Sometimes it takes a moment in time to make us realize change is necessary, other times the lesson can go on for years as we suffer through what we are resisting to learn.

Take this experience: Years ago, I was at my dad’s townhouse. I was in the upstairs bedroom doing something. The window looks at one of the community’s dumpsters. It’s fenced in, so it’s not an eye sore. I see a man pull up fast in a dark car with dark tinted windows. The man has gloves on, we live in Florida so this isn’t common. He gets a small bag out of the car and takes it to the dumpster. He seems to look around then quickly put the bag in the dumpster and drive off. I’m frantic. My heart is racing. Is that a gun he’s putting in there? Did he kill someone? What do I do? I run to my dad. My fear has me physically shaking as I tell him what I saw. He goes down to the dumpster and searches it. Lucky for him, not much is in there since they had recently emptied it. He found the bag…Dog shit. Yes, you heard me.

My present moment and history told me that the world was a scary place. By this time, I experienced the fear and horror of 9/11; watched countless shows about real life murders; and watched the news. I put my focus on my negative beliefs: I was in an unhealthy relationship; focused on the villains of humanity; and was a victim of my own personal universe. The world was against me. I kept these beliefs alive and spreading as I spewed my negativity to whoever would listen.

img_7167

At the time, I was watching those shows about real life murders every night. I didn’t even think of the possibility that it could be someone home on his lunch break to walk his dog. That day was an instant wake up call for me. How could I have let my thinking get so dark? After that day, I stopped watching shows about what’s messed up in the world, and I tried to make sure I watched or listened to something positive before I shut my eyes. That was my first step to finding a way out of my negativity. I was tired of being what is wrong with the world. I wanted to be what is right.

After a few years of being in a really good place, I’ve felt the negativity crawling back in. The negativity started with the year and half of watching people attack each other leading up to the U.S. Presidential election. The negativity slowly started feeding into my every day life. I became more negative in all my relationships and in my perception of current circumstances. I snapped more while driving. Though, that can be easy living in a coastal town in Florida during tourist season. In the meantime, I’ve experienced two great losses in my life. I also realized, I was attached to certain plans for my future that are now gone because of the losses and the timing.

All the ways I usually use to lift my spirits back up are not working. I know logically that this isn’t a good place to be and I’m aware of when I’m being negative. Currently, I’m reading The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein. Using some of the tools that she mentions in the book has opened me up to seeing all the areas in my life where I’m being judgmental and how it’s affecting my life. The book is helping me to stay focused on prayer, and through prayer and the help of others I’m getting the signs of where I need to take my next step.

IMG_8853

Here’s an example: when I was questioning whether or not to go to therapy, I got a call from a counseling center saying that my doctor had referred me to them. Now this meeting with my doctor took place more than a month ago after losing my grandmother, which was the second person within two months to die. I knew I needed help but I didn’t want meds. He wrote me a referral, but then his office called me saying I didn’t need the referral, I could just go on my own. I put it off and even forgot about it. Then when I questioned going, they called. I set up an appointment and went in for the evaluation. They were so backed up they couldn’t fit me in. It was ok because just knowing I took a step in the right direction and listened to the signs was making me feel better. I even told my friends and family that when I really need the therapy, they would be available. A couple weeks go by, and all the sudden I start letting life knock me down again. I start crying in prayer to God to help me. I’m fighting an anxiety attack, trying to calm myself by talking to my mom, and the phone rings. It’s the therapist office saying they have a last minute cancellation. Would I be able to make it in by 1:00PM? I know my power comes from connecting to Source energy and that will get me through all of life’s curve balls.

I went to counseling and discovered grief was having a larger effect on me than I thought. Then we mix in the weight of being a single mom, while going through a number of challenges no parent ever wishes to go through. My patience level with my kids became almost non-existent. I started feeling like a fraud. How can I write about living from a loving place when I don’t know which way is up? My whole world feels like it’s spinning, and I’m waiting for it to stop in order to fall down and find my stability. Then I know I can get back up and start walking in a straight line again. Instead, I feel all wobbly and like I’m walking on unstable ground.

Why am I telling you this? Because I know I will get out of it. I know I will find my footing and be stronger, better, and braver than I was before. I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to be because when I call for help, the Divine always shows up. I know this is all part of the process and I’m learning exactly what I need to get to the next place. I’m telling you this, because I know I’m not alone in feeling like no matter how much work I do on myself, sometimes life becomes a challenge. I’m not perfect, and don’t belong on any pedestal. No matter how much I look like I’m together, I still have times where I am just struggling to get through the day.

“Thank you Universe for transforming limitation and doubt into creative possibilities.”

-Gabrielle Bernstein, The Universe Has Your Back

What’s different for me now, I’m aware that this situation is temporary. I’ve come so far since I felt like I was an unlovable waste of space. I’m not turning to self-abuse anymore. I question, I pray, and I feel my way through.

I keep getting signs that I’m being taken care of and my prayers are being heard. I’m reminded that I’m looking through a straw-hole view of my life. I can’t see the big picture, but the Divine can and I’m being led exactly where I’m supposed to be going. I also have been reminded multiple times to stay within my 24 hours (See link by clicking)   Doing this makes my life manageable. I’m not reaching back to the past or out to some unknown future. What do I need to get done today?

IMG_4250

I’m in the midst of change. Everything is stirred up around me. One of my spiritual growth spurts is upon me. The chaos of change is opening me up to see where old beliefs aren’t working for me anymore. I don’t know how long this growth spurt will take, but I know it will be for the better and help me live my life from a more loving place. I just need to take a step daily that directs me to the life I want, and pray that I remain open to all the lessons and signs  from the Universe.  Today,  I stop resisting the lessons, and I choose to be better.

24 Hours

“Uproot self—the channel-blocker. Do not plan ahead, the way will unfold step by step. Leave to-morrow’s burden. Christ is the Great Burden-bearer. You cannot bear His load and He only expects you to carry a little day-share.”

-Two Listeners, Ed. A.J. Russell God Calling

After a whole lot of praying and confusion, I keep getting messages to stay within the 24-hours I’m in. I’m so caught between the memories of the past and the fears of the future that I keep getting lost about where I am RIGHT NOW! I’m so worried about how my life will turn out that I’m missing the steps I need to take right now in order to get the best results.

I’ve read enough material to know that worrying about the future is absolutely useless. What I’m doing right now is dictating what my future will look like.

Am I sitting around waiting for life to happen to me or taking action to follow my passions today?

Am I following my heart or holding onto fear of being hurt today?

Am I focused on solutions or problems today?

Am I complaining or doing something to change my circumstances today?

Am I being productive or lazy today?

img_4004

Every choice matters for my tomorrow, but my constant worry about what tomorrow holds is only attaching to an energy that I don’t want in my life. So, why do it? Today, I’m going to pay attention to the signs and just focus on the 24-hours in front of me. I will put my energy into today and deal with tomorrow when it comes. I kept wondering why I was so exhausted all the time, when I made the choice to just focus on my 24-hours I had enough energy to get through my day.

“I have lived a long life and had many troubles, most of which never happened.”

-Mark Twain

I’ve spent time staying present before, but then things happened and it slipped away. I got lost for a while. If that had happened a decade ago, I would have used it as a reason to beat myself down. How could you let that happen again? How can you be so stupid? That is some of my nicer self-talk I used to use. Today, I know it is all just a part of the process, and I trust that this lesson will take me deeper than the last time I was here. If I wound up here again, I need to learn something new to help lead the life I’ve prayed for a million times. A step closer to freedom lies within the way I evolve and grow. So, for these 24-hours I will keep moving and connecting to what I want my life to look like today. I will do my best and know that is enough.

3 Powerful Lessons I learned about the Law of Attraction

Along the road of self-discovery, I have stumbled across 3 jewels in understanding the law of attraction. I had to go through some very hard lessons to find them, but under all the muck and gruel, there they were; little diamonds. When I first learned about the Law of Attraction, I didn’t understand the POWER my the choices, emotions, thinking, and  all the patterns that came with them.

1. Power of Prayers

12687901_633186636822768_1134638839581554708_n-001

Each prayer attracts lessons and/or blessings. How we pray is important to what we will attract. Every inner conversation has the same power as a prayer. Be careful of the energy that is being put in. If we pray from a place of “not enough”, we will create a life that is not enough, and/or be exposed to lessons that give us the opportunity to see that we are enough; life is enough; the world is enough. The lessons will give us the opportunity to change or submit to the messages we are telling ourselves. When we enter prayer with loving energy, we are blessed in some way. The key is we have to stay present to spot the blessings. If we do that, more and more will be brought to us.

When we pray for the people who hurt us, we are sending a love into the darkness. The more loving energy we can send out, the more we invite into our lives. This shows up by noticing that the negative people start to fade away, and they take a back row seat in our lives. When we wish no evil on anyone, no evil energy can penetrate us. When we wish evil and feel hate we are apart of the same energy we are fighting against. It is counterproductive. When we pray with compassion, we are helping to heal the world.

When prayer is out of desperation, because we are in physical, mental, and/or emotional pain it is VERY IMPORTANT to watch our prayers. We are in the midst of a powerful lesson; how we pray matters. We have challenges to overcome. We may ask to be healed, but the healing may be in a different way than we thought about. Part of our purpose might be that we have a physical ailment, emotional and/or mental challenge, or a disease. Our purpose may be about spreading awareness, finding a cure, or overcoming mental anguish around our ailment. We have NO idea! This is where I learned to change my prayers. I started asking for help:

  • Fulfilling my purpose
  • Understanding the lesson
  • Healing my thoughts
  • Doing the next right thing
  • Focusing on things to be grateful for
  • Finding reasons to love myself and others

Changing my prayers in these simple ways has transformed my prayers and the power behind them. Now they are focused on what I truly want to attract to my life.

2. Being Aware of Inner/Outer Dialog

IMG_9639

The Power of Can’t

I laugh at myself every time I say can’t.  Don’t want to try and/or don’t want to do it is more accurate. Can’t is attracting energy in two different ways:

  • Using the word and language of can’t establishes limitations on what we CAN do. It sets up an invisible force field on what we will allow and/or attract to our lives. It gives us an excuse not to focus our energy on how to bring the possibility to our lives.
  • Focusing on the energy of can’t may bring some challenging lessons in what we can do. When people use phrases such as, “I can’t survive this”, “I can’t make this work”, and “I can’t live without…” it also may be asking the Universe to give us a lesson in showing us exactly what we are capable of doing and/or handling. These hurt to go through, but they have been my greatest gifts when I am ready to look at them from a loving perspective. These lessons are about what we want in the bigger picture. If we are asking to be stronger, braver, wiser, and in service to humanity, we need these lessons to show us how.

Avoiding the Thought of Never

When we put out the energy of Never it WILL have a lesson, because we are focusing on a negative energy. When we say, I will never be with a cruel, unhealthy, negative or abusive person, we are focusing on the energy that will bring them to our lives. She/he may present his/herself in a different kind of relationship than they did before, but the relationship will show up if we don’t change the dialog.

Focusing on What We Don’t Want

It is extremely important to focus on what we DO want. If we find ourselves saying, I don’t want… I don’t want him/her to do… I don’t need this in my life. Oh boy, watch out; get ready for a very bumpy road ahead. Sometimes we need to be challenged in order to see what we do want. Be grateful for the lesson, forgive them and yourself, and move on. If we choose to stay in the negative energy, we will repeat the same patterns and lessons until we get it. This can last a lifetime for some people. It is up to us how long we want the same lesson to last. Breaking patterns and attracting loving energy takes practice and a lot of work. Depending on how long we have been embedded in the negative energy, we may feel out of our element for some time, but keep the faith. Every time we hear ourselves saying or focusing on what we don’t want, we have an opportunity to look at it in a new way. We have to find the words and mantras that give power to what we do want.

3. Investing Time in the Right Places

IMG_0158

When presented with life’s challenges, we have a choice. We can put our time into the problem or the solution. If we truly want to learn from our circumstances and transform the energy into something better, we HAVE to invest our time wisely. If we are obsessing about the wrongs of others and ourselves, we are not helping anyone. We are attracting more of that energy to our lives.

If we know, we don’t want an abusive person or something negative in our lives, question what that looks like. What does a healthy person like? What do healthy people do? How do they treat others? How do they talk to their parents, friends, co-workers, and family? Really dive in and figure it out. Research healthy relationships if you don’t know what they look like. How do healthy people communicate? How do they express feelings? What love language do they speak? There are plenty of resources out there. This will transform you into becoming a person that another healthy person would be attracted to. We will always attract the energy we are putting out.

We need to invest our time in the energy we want to be attracting to our lives. Here are a few ways I have taken the initiative and invested my time and energy into the blessings I want to attract to my life.

  1. Gratitude lists
  2. A Can collage: This is a jar or can, focusing on the energy of what I CAN do. I cut out words from magazines that described the person I want to be and what I want to contribute to the world. I glued them all over the can inside and out. Then I write myself notes: I need to work on… I am proud of myself for… I want to learn about… I am doing ________ in order to reach my goals.
  3. Vision Board: If we are visual learners it is important to see what our vision is. I cut out pictures of the lifestyle I want to attract. My inner dialog must match my vision if I will be successful in attracting outer goals.
  4. Read, watch, and focus on the subjects that will help me focus on the life I want. I love audiobooks, books, blogs, and positive messages to keep me focused on the energy I want to attract. It would be really easy right now with the bombings, politics, educational systems, prejudices, and hate to focus on the problems, but it doesn’t fix the energy that is creating the problems. I have to face those things with love or I’m contributing to the what I don’t want. Focusing on the negative energy will only create more. I try to figure out how to focus on love to come up with solutions to spread a more loving energy. I only can give what I have inside. I need to make it count!
  5. Lists: I make list of what I want and make sure everything is in the affirmative. If all I know is what I don’t  want, I think about what the opposite looks like. The lists help me figure out what healthier choices and thoughts look like and they help me to shift my language and behaviors.
